why we wander is no wonder
the world has a wealth of wonders
we welcome those who wander
for wandering is worthy of your while
those who wander wow at wonders
and wallow in wisdom like wallflowers
wanderers like wallflowers will watch
and weave wisdom with what they witness
we are wise for wanting to wander
for when we are worn and weak
we would not want to wish we had wandered
we who wake wishing
wind-up wanting to view the wondrous world
we should worship our weeks
or we will weep for the while we have wasted
the world is a wonderland
and wanderers wield a weight of wisdom
wandering and wondering without worry
wanderers will not wait on others
as wanderers our woe is when
we are wrapped in a wretched wariness
wondering whether or not we should wander
we would not want to have wasted our while
for we who worry our weeks away
will wither in the worst way
This is a poem I wrote in 2016 after hearing an inspiring panel of writers. It's definitely my favorite poem I've ever written, and the most complicated one.
